Become a Volunteer

Somewhere To Go offers a variety of volunteering opportunities.

The day centre provides food and drink throughout the day and requires a team of between 4 and 6 people to work in our kitchen area. The kitchen team is at its busiest when lunch is served and some of the team will be manning the dishwasher and clearing up until everyone has eaten. Coffees and teas are then served after lunch.

In the main hall team members welcome people into the centre, sit with them and chat over coffee. This is when problems are identified and there may be a need to phone a landlord to look for accommodation or deal with a problem that's arisen due to benefits issues.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact us!

A meeting will be arranged so we can assess your skills and needs. Normally, volunteers begin working as part of the kitchen team or as a befriender. If both volunteer and manager agree, at a later date the volunteer can engage in closer one-to-one work with service users. Everything is explained at the first meeting with the day centre manager.
